Montessori Learning

It’s widely documented that early childhood is the most important period of time in the brain’s development. It’s at this time that the neural connections of the brain are rapidly being formed and we begin to develop our individual learning habits. Dr. Maria Montessori dedicated her life to understanding early childhood brain development and founded her philosophy of education based upon her decades of research.

Heritage Montessori utilizes brilliantly and specifically designed Montessori materials in the classrooms. Our teachers engage a wide variety of tools to make learning fun and engaging for our students. Whether it’s learning through games, puzzles, or activities, our teachers use Montessori approved materials that help captivate our students’ curious minds. These hands on activities make learning fun and interesting and instill in our students, a passion for learning!

Montessori Teachers are arguably the most important part of the Montessori system. Dr. Montessori described the child’s mind between the time of birth and six years of age as the “absorbent mind”. It is during this stage that a child has a tremendous ability to learn and assimilate from the world around him, without conscious effort. A Montessori teacher recognizes this and takes advantage of these highly perceptive stages through the introduction of materials and activities which are specially designed to stimulate this sponge-like mind.

At Heritage Montessori, each classroom has a lead teacher as well as an assistant teacher, both of which are highly trained experts in early childhood education. All lead teachers are required to hold Montessori Certification.  Assistant teachers are encouraged to enroll in Montessori Certification classes. Through rigorous coursework and in-class training the teachers master the foundations of the Montessori Method. They become the most essential part of the Montessori classroom acting as a guide, a mentor, and a role-model for their pupils.

“The hands are the instruments of human intelligence.”
– Dr. Maria Montessori
